May is Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in the United States and Canada. In order to affirm and celebrate Asian and Pacific Islanders (API)* identities, histories and cultures, we’ve curated a list of 15 FREE lesson plans, toolkits, and teaching guides for educators to help them honor API month in their classrooms. From kindergarten to Grade 12, there are well researched and professionally developed resources to help all students discover the impact and importance of API figures in history, the historical impact of racist policies on API communities, and the cultural, linguistic, gastronomical and artistic diversity amongst API groups. Everyone is sure to learn something new this month with our resources.
*Please note: because these resources are reflect the experiences of Asian Americans and Asian Canadians, we chose to use the acronym, API instead of AAPI.
